From the foundations of breathing and core control to high performance, we help you build your best forme.
Movement is unique to every individual, so your care should be too. Our holistic approach considers the whole person, beginning with the foundations of breathing, core function and movement quality. From there we create an evidence- based pathway tailored to your goals. Whether that’s recovering from injury, preventing future problems, or achieving high performance. Because lasting results come from understanding your body, not just treating your symptoms.
Physiotherapy
At forme. every consultation begins with understanding your history, goals and the way your body moves. Following a thorough assessment, we'll create an individualised treatment plan combining hands-on therapy, education and tailored rehabilitation.
Our longer appointments (45–60 minutes) give us the time to treat, teach and empower you with the knowledge and confidence to move well for the long term. Whether you're recovering from injury, improving performance or simply wanting to move with greater ease, we're here to help you achieve your goals.
Clinical Pilates
Physiotherapist guided exercise sessions, using Pilates based exercises and equipment. These sessions are individualised to your goals whether you are recovering from an injury, preventing recurrence, safely maintaining strength and mobility, or looking to improve your performance. The groups can offer the opportunity to connect with others while working toward common goals.
New patients must book for an Initial Assessment. We will cover your history, goals and get you started with learning the basics of your core muscles and how to use the pilates equipment.
From there every individual is different with what we will recommend. If your goal is to get into the group classes that is what we will aim to do as quickly as possible.
Functional Breath Workshops
“I wish I’d learned this sooner”
“Why don’t they teach us this at school?”
After hearing these two comments repeatedly from patients, we decided that we needed to share this knowledge on a wider scale.
About our Functional Breath Workshops
Your core muscles are your “breath pump” muscles. Your breathing muscles are your core muscles. You’re not functioning at your best if you aren’t breathing well, it’s that simple. Our bodies are so incredibly connected! Breathing, using the correct muscles, allows power, strength, calm, it really has such a profound effect on our whole body.
You take on average 20,000 breaths each day, if you use your core muscles to properly do this, this stimulates many good processes within your body. Optimal breathing enables better oxygen delivery to your tissues, strengthens your 'core muscles' it stimulates your parasympathetic nervous system to relax your body, reduces your heart rate, decreases your blood pressure, aids in digestion, and promotes healing. This balanced state is where we should ideally spend majority of our time.
Unfortunately, our modern day, fast paced, highly stimulating lifestyles lead many people to spending too much time in a stressed, sympathetic nervous system driven state.
In these workshops, we cover the 3 pillars of breathing: Biochemistry, Psychophysiology and we focus on the Biomechanics of Breathing. There is a large practical focus so you can understand why breathing well is so important and really experience how this feels. With over 20 years of clinical experience each, plenty of research and further education we have found that optimal body movement and function starts with your breath. So come along to understand and experience healthy breathing for yourself!
